About the original: The Audi 50 was intended as the successor to the NSU 1000, and was also developed by the NSU development department. Initially the small Audi 50 (1974-1978) was relatively successful. Yet quickly after the introduction of it’s more affordable sibling the Volkswagen Polo, the sales dwindled steeply.Yet it remains a strong design that marked the start of a new Volkswagen-Audi concern.
