Description
Train set with an electric rack railway locomotive (similar to E 69) and two 2nd class passenger cars of a private railway.
– Locomotive for real rack railway operation
– Suitable for the FLEISCHMANN rack track 9119
– Due to the enormous climbing ability (up to 25%) on rack rails, the locomotive overcomes extraordinary height differences even in the smallest of spaces
– The locomotive can be driven with and without FLEISCHMANN rack track
Rack railways have a very special fascination with their unique combination of mountain scenery and daring routes, with numerous bridges and tunnels. The train moves forward by engaging a cogwheel with a rack in the middle of the track, as the usual friction between wheel and rail is no longer sufficient for the steep gradients. In rack railways of the so-called mixed system, where friction sections alternate with rack sections depending on the gradient conditions, the traction is exerted by one and the same machine. In the Alps there are a particularly large number of private rack railways, which are very popular with tourists from all over the world.
